My thoughts about culture and our present conditions. As Dianne Moore says in Learning to Love a Wounded World, "This requires a willingness to feel everything…. the horror and the beauty of what is here…. the fear and the Love.”

Scuba Diving Through Fear

There’s more to propaganda than I ever imagined when I first looked into it years ago, and I’ve found it worth my while to make a study of the subject.

But at the same time I realize how difficult it is to point out the many ways everyone participates in propagandizing themselves, and it’s even more difficult to systematically identify the spin doctors perpetrating the confusion that’s always arising.  In fact, taking the effort to try to identify those “evil doers” is an active part of creating a rational confusion and advancing propaganda procedures on a population.  That’s one reason I, myself, steer clear of these frantic causal identity projects we see advertised with such regularity on this site.

I think we can talk about the hopeful ends while at the same time looking deeper into structural means that get us there. That is, the real structural issues involved in our own participation in the management of this society, which is a deeply proprammed process we all share.

If we can reach an understanding of those deeper processes, that we tend to take for granted because we paddle across them every day, perhaps we can see how the opaque screen of fear clouds the depths and keeps us at a superficial level of understanding.

Yet, we can’t count on the self proclaimed bearers of “truth”.  We each need to learn how to scuba dive into those depths so we can get down under the opaque clouds and stay down where the real understanding can be examined.  A lot of it’s in our own minds where the actionable fear gets generated like a gaseous cloud.

The opportunity to self-learn how to remain unaffected by mass hysteria is something available to anyone participating on this site.  It’s free.  People pay money to gurus who teach meditation practices whereby they hope to end up learning pretty much the same self awareness practices.
